Lightning Rod by Vaughn R. Demont

I recommend this book
Hey remember when I said I'd have a post by Thursday? Yeah sorry about that. Happy Friday?

So this is the sequel to Coyotes Creed, and like most sequels, it wasn't as good. Don't get me wrong, it was still pretty epic, especially at the end, but it didn't hold my attention as well as the first one did. I find this to be true for most sequels so I'm really not that disappointed.

For me the biggest disappointment is that this book has a different main character. I liked Spencer (the first books main character) a lot and the story just wasn't the same without him. I really care about Spencer and what happens to him so to open it and discover it was about James Black instead was kind of a let down. Spencer did however pop up a few times during the story so it made it better, but I found myself looking for him instead of James.

So if it's not about Spencer then what is it about you ask? A young sorcerer named James Black. And James is plagued with the task of ending the world, but not really ending it at all. It's complicated. While this is going on James finds himself in love with Cale. And I ship them so hard it hurts. The book is a lot less gay porn and a lot more plot this time around. I don't know how I feel about that. Lightning Rod is faced paced and has a pretty gripping ending.

I do think this book is really well written, like the first one, and has a good plot. I would recommend it just as I recommended the first one but I would be cautious as you read it. Don't get your hopes up. I'm looking forward to reading the next book and I cant wait to see more of Spencer. And I'm even happy to be seeing more of James because by the end of the book I did care about him, not as much as Spencer, but I still cared. So when he was hurting at the end I was hurting. I think that's the way it should be. When you can empathize with the characters then you know the author has done their job correctly.

I give this book three and half stars

Oops

Hey guys, sorry. I just got a new job and I haven't really had time to read. My next day off is Tuesday so I'm hoping I can get a post in then. If not then I also have Thursday off. So I'm sorry my blog has been kind of silent lately. I'm hoping it will change once I get use to working. Thanks for waiting.

Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets by Malia Ann Haberman

I recommend this book
*I received a copy of this book for review purposes. All opinions are my own*

With that being said, OH MY GOD THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!!! I've been anxious to read the next Chase Tinker book ever since putting down the first. It's very hard to craft a sequel that's better than the first, but Malia has managed to do it. I am so impressed with this book. It held my attention and when I did have to step away from it I found myself wondering what was going to happen next. When it was over I was really really really sad. I didn't know what to do with myself when I finished. I ended up just sitting on the sofa just not even able to function properly for at least thirty minutes.

The second Chase Tinker book takes place right where the first one leaves off. Chase is still mad at his dad, and I really sympathized for Chase. Janie has gone completely off her rocker. The Marlowes are still up to no good. And Andy still remains adorable. The plot to this one is interesting and there were some major twists even I didn't see coming. The book is fast paced and attention grabbing.

This book was written so beautifully it's mind blowing. I really admire Malias writing style. Normally I'm not a fan of third person writing but Malia manages to make it work. She captures Chase so perfectly it's amazing. Malia does a good job with getting us to have a deeper understanding of all the characters. I'm really impressed because even some of the minor characters have some major character development, which  is something many authors fail to do. As I said in the first Chase Tinker post I loved all the characters. In this book Malia is able to turn one of my favorite characters into one that I completely hate, which is also impressive. Malia also manages to turn a character I didn't really have any feelings towards into one that is now close to my favorite.

I am super pleased with this book. I cannot wait to read the next one. This book is so amazing and perfect. I cant believe more people haven't started this series already.

I give this book five stars

Coyote's Creed by Vaughn R. Demont

I recommend this book
I've been done with the book for a few weeks, like i finished it before Paper Towns. I wasn't sure if I wanted to review it because of it's content but whatever I don't really care. The book is porn, gay porn. Goodreads recommended it to me and I read the description and it said that is was going to be sexual, but I didn't think it was going to be as sexual as it was.

I'll just get right to it, despite the ridiculous amount of sex scenes, I absolutely loved this book. It was so well written and even though it was basically porn it had an elegant tone to it, if that's even possible. It did have a real plot to it, too. It's about this kid Spencer who is a Coyote and he doesn't know that he's a Coyote. There's this feud going on between the Coyote's and the Foxes. And Spencer kind of gets dragged into it without really getting a say. He is forced to get his fathers ashes back from the foxes, but it's kind of more complicated than that (also Spencer hated his father). But i'm not going to give anything else away.

I loved all the characters, especially Spencer. When I found out he isn't in the second one I wanted to cry. I've become kind of attached to him. He's like my poor misunderstood bisexual baby. And Rourke was just perfect. Even the characters I knew I wasn't supposed to like I liked anyways. I just cant even get over how much this book made me feel.

My one and only criticism is that basically everyone Spencer ran into was gay or bisexual. And while I don't have a problem with that it just made it seem less realistic. But it was such a minor thing I don't even know why I decided to bring it up.

Look the book isn't for everyone. It's porn. There is literally at least seven sex scenes and it's gay sex. So for some people this book is just a giant no. But if things like this don't bother you then I seriously recommend it because the story was just so good. I cant wait to be able to start the second one. I'm really happy with this book and I was really sad when it was over.

I give this book five stars
